2018 Meetings:
Thursday, February 22 when we will meet in the Rotunda of City Hall at 7:30 pm.
We have not had a speaker for Black History month for several years but an opportunity arose to have Karolyn Smadz Frost address us for a second time. Based on her publication of I’ve Got a Home in Glory Land, Ms. Smardz Frost addressed us in 2010.
Tuesday March 20, at 7:30 pm in the Huronia Room of Barrie City Hall we will be entertained By Deb Exell and Donna Wice who will give us a presentation on Historical Humour. On the same evening of March 20 we will also hold our Annual General Meeting. It is largely a five minute formality and it makes the bookkeeping easier to have the meeting sooner than the annual dinner in May. Since this is your official notice of the meeting we are open to nominations or volunteers who would like to serve on the executive. The Annual General Meeting will take place just before our speakers for the evening.
****UPDATE - change of meeting topic and time. Tuesday April 24th - CANCELLED
Replaced by the following:
Our last meeting of the 2017-2018 season will be held on Saturday April 21 at 2 pm. This is a joint meeting with the Simcoe County Historical Association and the Innisfil Historical Society that will be held at St. James United Church in Stroud.
There will be a presentation on”200 years of Music" with plenty of singers and accompanying instrumentalists, followed by refreshments. It promises to be an entertaining afternoon.
****UPDATE
There will be no final dinner in May this year for various reasons. The Annual General Meeting was held on March 20 as noted above.
